Semper Fi Odyssey:

In December 2026, we will celebrate an incredible milestone: the 100th session of Semper Fi Odyssey. For almost two decades, SFO has brought wounded, ill, injured, and transitioning services members together for an experience built around connection, challenge, leadership, and resiliency.

As we prepare for our 100th session in December, we want to recognize the participants, team leaders, staff, families, and supporters who have made this impactful journey possible.

MFRT Mindful Pause: Windber Area School District

Building a resilient school community means supporting both adults and students.

With support from the 1889 Foundation, Outdoor Odyssey was excited to pilot a school-wide program on August 20, welcoming the teachers, administrators, and staff of Windber Area School District to the mountain for Mental Fitness and Resiliency Training: Mindful Pause.

Mental fitness is the practice of building cognitive, emotional, and psychological resiliency to manage stress, maintain a healthy state of mind, and adapt to challenges.

Our Mindful Pause program helps participants understand their own stress triggers and tolerances and learn practical tools to relieve stress and build resiliency. When educators strengthen these skills in themselves, they are better able to support one another, model healthy responses, co-regulate with students, and help young people build resiliency of their own.

Superintendent, Dr. Mike Vuckovich, is committed to supporting Windber’s teachers, administrators, staff, and students and creating a healthy, supportive, and more regulated school environment. Building resiliency across the school community encourages positivity, connection, and a shared ability to meet challenges together.
