Outdoor Odyssey offers young children, ages 8+, the opportunity to grow and learn with the
helping hand of a high school senior or college mentor. Together, your child and your child's
mentor will attend a week of high adventure summer camp at Outdoor Odyssey in Boswell, Pa.
Laurel Mountain offers a breath-taking backdrop for hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking,
camping under the stars, and cave exploration.
Safety First
All activities are supervised by our well-trained, caring staff to
ensure that each team (a mentor and two campers) has a fun, safe experience. Your child and your
child's team will participate in group games, will help build campfires, and will even cook some
of his or her own meals with supervision.
Fun After Summer Camp
The friendships that form during camp between your child and
your child's mentor are the start of what will be a lasting bond as the team meets up a couple
times each month for some fun, to tackle homework together, or to participate in a community
service project.
Partners in School
Once school begins, Outdoor Odyssey will be there working with
your child and your child's teachers, setting educational goals and helping your child be
successful in school and in life. Mentors often help their teams with homework and talk about
their own interest in education.
Weekend Refreshers
Campers love to return to camp each Fall and Spring for a weekend
refresher with their mentors. Refreshers are tons of fun and give campers a chance to remember
all of the incredible moments from summer camp.
How to Apply
All referrals are made through your elementary school guidance
counselors. If your child's counselor has determined that your child is eligible for this
program, the counselor will provide you with the paperwork necessary to enroll your
child.
